Romans 8:18 ICB We have sufferings now. But the sufferings we have now are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us.
Is this verse frustrating?
Or a verse of comfort?
It depends on if you are in a pessimistic mood or an optimistic mood. Even when we are low we can close our eyes and think about the glory we have been promised by God. How great is God that He has given us this hope of eternal life through the belief in His Son?
We as believers are going to have an eternity without pain and sorrows. Yet we live in the here and now.
Are we condemned to misery on Earth at this time? No, may it not be so. As discussed on this blog, tough times are a given but they will not last. Joy comes eventually. One day we will be able to comfort others with the comfort God is giving us right now.
We may or may not have had a part in what is weighing us down at the moment, yet we can have a part in our eternal grace through belief in the cross. Jesus gave his whole self so that we could forever be right with God. As heirs to the throne, grace abounds and we are given peace and joy to tide us through until we see Jesus face to face. I think of our brothers and sisters in China and other parts of Asia. They must meet in secret risking their lives to celebrate, worship, learn, and pray because they know this is not the last stop of the train. The final destination makes it all worth it…every moment. But we must keep our hearts and minds focused on our eternal glory, not our momentary hell.
Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate

Amen! Scripture blesses us with the encouraging verses to persevere and endure. Indeed, there is and will be joy to experience from our God.
