Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go, they merely determine where you start.

Omgoodness- how true is this!  Abraham Lincoln.  Barack Obama. Helen Keller.  Life didn’t start them on a track for success- yet they put one foot in front of the other and achieved heights (that we might not even be interested in) that were out of their reach from where they started.

Let’s talk about other kinds of success.  How about having and expressing the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things, there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).  What about striving for these?  Oh wait- they are fruit!  They are a result of seeds planted.  The seed which results in these fruits is the seed of the Holy Spirit.  With Christ planted in our hearts, in good soil, our character will be transformed to exhibit these wonderful qualities.  But we have to have good soil as a condition of our heart.

A farmer sowed the seed.  Some fell on the road– the people who hear teaching about the kingdom but don’t understand and the evil one takes away what’s been planted in their hearts. Some seeds fell on rocky ground– people who hear the teaching and quickly accept it with joy but do not let it go deep in their lives.  It lasts a short time but when persecution comes they give up.  Other seeds fell amongst thorny weeds– people who hear the teaching but let worries about life and love money so much their teaching does not produce fruit.  Finally, there were seeds sown on good ground– people who hear the teachings of the Lord and produce fruit 30, 60, and 100 times more than imagined.

Today, if you are in a low spot in life- it does NOT mean life will always stay that way.

Plant the word of God, plant the Holy Spirit into your soul and your life, and take Jesus as your savior and example- and the fruit of the Spirit will be yours in the future, starting today.

Until Next Time~
Blessings Kate
