2 Corinthians 4:16-18 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
There is so much in this scripture, starting with “we never give up.” That is one of the surest beliefs we must cling to no matter what is going on.
Once we develop a pattern or habit of giving up it becomes difficult to fight the desire to give up the next time, especially if “next time” is even more painful.
Instead we renew our spirits. We tend to them and nurture them. We must take care of ourselves. One way we do this is by focusing on the promises of God both for now and in the future. We take our eyes off that which is upsetting us. That which is currently happening may, or may not, be final– but our emotions can return to a better place with time, prayer and work. Our lives are filled with ups and downs: most pass and we move on to new adventures.
We must cling to the fact that regardless of our situation today, it pales in comparison to the glory of God for eternity. This can be the best thing to focus on to see us through tough times. “This, too, shall pass; and glory is on its way.”
Until Next Time~
