Psalm 23:4 Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely for you are near.
I had a revelation about this verse. I usually read it as “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death” but this verse in the Passion translation claims firmly that God is taking us through the darkness. Through: Through to the other side.
I have had many experiences in life when there was no way to see a light at the end of the tunnel, see the other side of darkness. The pain was so strong it felt all encompassing. Or maybe there was no pain– just depression that took away my ability to feel, leaving me only with negative thoughts and tears in my cold shell where life used to be.
Through to the other side: We can be assured we will be stronger and wiser when we arrive on the other side.
Our compassion will be deepened. We will be able to comfort others with the comfort that was given to us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abound through Christ.
God is watching us and wanting us to sense his compassion and care. He would pick us up and hold us. He will not leave us.
Things have happened.
Now let him take you through to the other side. Cry out to God. Let His love and mercy be yours today. Rest in the fact this is not the end. He is not done with you yet.
Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
