In moments of doubt the scriptures seem alien to us.

Do you understand the scriptures? Or are they something you just can’t get? Do you have MANY questions about what you are reading but you have been reading the Bible for a long time?

We all need mentors who can walk us through the text– but even then, or even without, we can understand the WORD.

One reason for not understanding is that the enemy blocks our ability to understand. For it is written:

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 New Living Translation

If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

But there is an antidote:

Luke 24:44-45 New Living Translation

44 Then he said, “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Maybe unbelief is what is in your heart. This can open the door for satan to cloud your mind. Jesus will open your mind when you believe. All you need to do is ask. He is faithful:

2 Timothy 2:13 New Living Translation

1If we are unfaithful,
    he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny who he is.

A lot of my posts can be on the short side. I happen to like that so you can read quickly, get the message, and move on– rather than putting it off for fear it will be super long each time.

With this post I just want to say one more thing:

When you have doubts– it is okay because we all go through it….EVERYONE of us. But let me encourage you that when you have doubt all you need to do is reach out and ask for belief:

Mark 9:24 New Living Translation

24 The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

God is here to strengthen your faith and/or get you started on your faith journey. Yet, believe me– there is one who will come against you in those moments of doubt and uncertainty. It is the ruler of this world. And if he can get you to cross that line from doubt to completely giving up faith due to unbelief and lack of understanding– believe this– he will.

Call out to Jesus. Call out to the Father. Call out to the Holy Spirit:

John 14:26 New Living Translation

2But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

You are never left alone to “get this” on your own. You are never left alone when your faith wavers. Hold strong and cry out to God. Let him strengthen you:

Isaiah 41:10 New Living Translation

10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Surround yourself with believers and share where/ when you struggle.

You do not have to “get this” on your own.

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
