Rest for the weary

(insights from my prayer this morning)

The time is coming and the time is now
When we shall come to know Him as He is.
This is our soul purpose- to know and to glorify Him in response.
He does not need our praise.
He is just worthy of it.
We are so meaningless on our own.
It is only in and through Him that our lives matter.
We can spend every day living as the dying do.
What will that gain us?

The rat race
The paralysis of virus
Two extremes, and yet we cannot, on our own, find ourselves.
Our souls still cry out:
Who am I? (really at my core)
What is my purpose?
What should I be doing with my time? (to feel happy and fulfilled, satisfied)
At our core: What is wrong with me? Why am I different?

You are different because He made you for Himself.
He stands ready to make you whole and to bring you a peace you have never known.
It doesn’t have to be this way, the way it is.
Life does not have to be so hectic, or so boring.
We can stop STRIVING…it does us no good.
We never get anywhere by it anyway.
Aren’t you tired?

28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28-30 The Message (MSG)

We need to remove the filter
The filter of us.
We hold ourselves up before our eyes and then view the world and how it effects us.
Everything (for most everybody) is filtered through self.
But what if we let God be our filter?
What if we asked- How does God see this?
How would God have me respond?
What does God think about that which I am focusing on?
Do my thoughts glorify Him or should I make some changes?

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 New Living Translation (NLT)

If during this time we are worn down…and most of us are
If we are overly concerned with things we cannot control- people, places, and things…
If we are just plain tired
If we are angry
If we are depressed

If your soul is crying out for something different… It is time to rest in HIM.

You are NOT doing that if you are tense, disturbed, distraught.

Because even when life calls for change, God will fill us with a peace beyond understanding as we act to bring about change….when we are rested in Him and following His will for our lives.

It is time to find our rest in HIM
To be re-fueled in HIM
TO spend our free time glorifying HIM– the one from who all our strength comes from
Strength for a new day
Strength for a new trial and or adventure
Strength to face what lies before us.

Find your rest today in HIM— it will be gentle, light, full of peace.
Re-fuel and restore yourself (only) through HIM.

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
