I noticed something that made me sit up. It caught my attention. After all the years of study, it never hit me quite like today:
So love your enemies. Do good to them, and lend to them without hoping to get anything back. If you do these things, you will have a great reward. You will be sons of the Most High God. Yes, because God is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin. Luke 6:35 ICB
And we do all this because God is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin. As we have read in
Romans 5:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
And we are called to be transformed into the image of Christ and to act as God acts.
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Matthew 5:48 New Living Translation (NLT)
But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Luke 6:35 ICB
So love your enemies. Do good to them, and lend to them without hoping to get anything back. If you do these things, you will have a great reward. You will be sons of the Most High God. Yes, because God is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin.
It is a tall order but like I have said before– this journey of walking out our faith is not for the cowardly.
I have a long way to go.
Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
Love it!

It is hard to obey God, and we are all beginners in this life. Thanks for your post. Re: enemies, we can take it fpr granted this also includes enemies of the Cross, of God, of the Bible.
In Matt5 Jesus does speak of Roman soldiers requiring 1 mile of carrying their military gear. Jesus said carry it 2 miles, which Roman law prohibited. It is worth considering, since slapping with the backhand is a no_no for Jews also. Turn the other cheek is not merely being meek, it opportunes a learning moment for the abuser. It is also a graceful rebuke.
